World Christianity and Mission: A symposium

Join international scholars on Friday 17 April to discuss three new books examining the intersection between World Christianity and mission.

Churches Together in England, The Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide and The Anglican Communion are partnering together to organise a mission symposium on Friday 17 April 2026 at Westminster College in Cambridge.

The day which takes place from 11am – 3pm brings into focus three recent publications which highlight the intersection between World Christianity and mission. The first is Connecting Christianities: World Christianity and Mission in the Twenty First Century published by Brill and edited by Muthuraj Swamy and Jenny Leith. The second Lived Mission in 21st Century Britain: Ecumenical and Postcolonial Perspectives edited by Ben Aldous, Harvey Kwiyani, Peniel Rajkumar and Victoria Turner and finally Stephen Spencer’s book Types of Christian Mission: An Introduction. Both the latter two books are published by SCM Press.

The team have invited three international scholars to reflect on the books. These are Professor Eugene Baron from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, Dr Nuam Hatzaw from Edinburgh University and CMS and Dr Laura Popa from the University of Cambridge.  There will also be presentations from editors of the books which will set the scene for questions and conversations from participants and other guests.

Join us in person or online for a rich day of discussions around mission.

The day is free of charge and includes a simple lunch.

Book a place at the symposium (choose in person or online when booking).
