To mark The King’s Coronation thousands of organisations across the country are getting together to help out in their own local communities.
The Big Help Out is a volunteering initiative led by the Together Coalition. Brendan Cox, who is a co-founder of the Together Coalition, said that it was important to make sure that the Coronation “isn’t just a one-off event, with golden coaches and street parties”, but that a legacy emerged from it that would “make a difference for communities in the long term”.
Churches and Churches Together groups across the UK are invited to join #TheBigHelpOut on Monday 8 May 2023.
The CTE President and Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, encouraged participation with a tweet.
Information for those wanting to organise an event is available on the Big Help Out website and a Q&A document is available. You can also download a toolkit which includes visuals for publicity.
And you can check out the volunteering opportunities near you on the Big Help Out app.
If your Churches Together group is getting involved, do share the story with CTE. Please send us the details and a photo or tag us on social media @ChurchesEngland. Don’t forget the #BigHelpOut hashtag!
