If you attend one of CTE’s Member Churches, want to learn more about Christian unity, love to travel, and are aged 18 to 35 – why not give it a go?
Up to £6,000 in grants are available from The Bill Snelson Young Ecumenists Fund over this coming year. You have until midnight on 31 October 2024 to apply.
John Stayne, a Roman Catholic theologian who has just finished his PhD, was one of the first successful applicants to the Fund in Autumn 2023. He said “I am so grateful to the CTE Bill Snelson Fund for supporting my trip to visit some key sites related to the Coptic community in Egypt. It is not an exaggeration to say that the visit was both unforgettable and genuinely life-changing.”
Sam Rigby visited the World Council of Churches in Geneva and the Chemin Neuf Community at Hautecombe Abbey, France with support from the Snelson Fund. Sam has since finished his studies, has been ordained and is now serving his curacy with the Wenlock Team Ministry, in Shropshire. He said: “These experiences energised me for my future ministry as a newly ordained deacon to pursue ecumenical relationships in my new context and to continue to join in efforts to bring Christians of different confessions together in one voice to proclaim Christ to the world.”
Rebecca Boardman has just returned from six weeks at the Asian Rural Institute (ARI) in Japan. Her trip was partially funded by The Bill Snelson Young Ecumenists Fund. Rebecca said: “My time at ARI provided me with a space for restoration, reflection and discernment. In joining a new community I had an opportunity to rediscover many of my strengths and God-given gifts which I hope will set me up well moving into the future.”
