How do I apply for a CTE Young Ecumenists travel grant?

Watch the 'Be inspired' vodcast recorded on Monday 5 October 2026. Hear travel tales from previous awardees and get top tips on your application.

If you are (or know) a young Christian aged 18 to 35 years old who would like to experience inter-church work outside England keep reading…

Applications are now open for The Bill Snelson Young Ecumenists Fund, which is run by Churches Together in England. We have £6000 each year to give away to young people from any of our national Member Churches who want to experience ecumenism abroad.

That experience can be study, pilgrimage, volunteering or any activity that promotes church unity.

Take a look at where some of the past Snelson Fund alumni have travelled.

Be inspired

If you would like to know more about the Snelson Fund and where it could take you, then watch our introductory vodcast (short for visualised podcast), which was recorded on 5 October 2026. It was hosted by Min Shermara Hoyte, who leads the Young Ecumenists workstream for Churches Together in England.

In the vodcast, Shermara talked to four young Christians who received a grant from the Snelson Fund to have an ecumenical experience abroad. They are:

  • Dolly Bamigbade from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, who went to Turkiye
  • Joseph Nelson from the Council of Lutheran Churches, who went to Edinburgh
  • Katie Irwin and Beth Andrews from the Congregational Federation, who went to Brazil
