Dr Hugh Osgood was elected as Moderator of the Free Churches Group in 2014 and has served an unprecedented two successive terms.
He began working with the Free Churches Group in 2003 when Churches in Communities International, which he established in 1997 for independent churches and ministries, became involved in chaplaincy. It is now one of the largest providers of Christian chaplaincy in the UK, with many churches around the British Isles as well as in Africa and the Caribbean.
Before setting up CiC, Dr Osgood served as the Evangelical Alliance’s London Coordinator, being known for mobilising cross-denominationally. He served as a trustee of the African and Caribbean Evangelical Alliance, writing his PhD thesis on the Integration of African Pentecostalism into British Evangelicalism. He remains the Co-convenor of the Charismatic and Pentecostal Leaders’ Gathering, and, when a local church leader, was actively involved in establishing inter-church links regionally and locally.
