Rural Missions strengthens children’s, youth, and family ministry.

A merger with charity The Resources Cupboard will allow them to broaden the support they can give to those rural ministry.

Rural Missions, a network committed to equipping and empowering rural churches, is to welcome The Resources Cupboard into its ministry family to consolidate the commitment to vibrant children’s, youth, and family ministry and mission across the UK church. This merger comes following months of prayer and discernment by both ministries and was voted for by the trustees of both charities.

The Resources Cupboard was founded in 2014 by Becky May but became a charity in its own right just less than 4 years ago, and has long been a trusted source of creative, biblically-rooted materials and ideas for churches seeking to develop their work with children, young people and families.

This merger will ensure their rich catalogue of resources and innovative approach will be integrated into Rural Missions’ wider strategy, bringing greater coherence and support to churches seeking to disciple the next generation in rural settings.

As part of this merger, Becky May will be joining the staff team of Rural Missions to lead the work with children’s, youth and family ministry nationally. Rebecca Caird, who has served as a Mission Enabler for The Resources Cupboard will be continuing in her role under Rural Missions with a focus on Bedfordshire.

Chief Executive of Rural Missions, Bob Goody, welcomed this move, saying: “We’re thrilled to welcome The Resources Cupboard into Rural Missions. Becky’s work nationally and locally has consistently inspired and equipped churches, and this merger enables us to build on that legacy. Together, as we move forward, we’ll ensure rural churches have the tools, encouragement, and vision they need to nurture faith in children, young people and families.”

Founder of The Resources Cupboard, Becky May, added: “I started The Resources Cupboard out of a deep desire to support churches in making young disciples, especially where resources and people can feel stretched. Joining Rural Missions means these values can reach even further. I’m excited to see this work grow as part of a wider vision for rural church life.”

The merger, taking immediate effect, will see The Resources Cupboard’s content and ethos continue to shape and inform resources and training within Rural Missions, with new materials and partnerships launching in the coming months.
