Churches Together in England is proud to announce that it has recently been accredited as a Living Wage Employer, reinforcing our commitment to fair pay and social responsibility. The accreditation, awarded by the Living Wage Foundation, recognises organisations that commit to ensuring all employees earn a wage that meets the real cost of living.
CTE has always paid its staff above the Living Wage threshold, but earlier this year, the Trustees agreed that seeking accreditation was an important step in demonstrating CTE’s support for the principles and values behind the scheme. By joining the nationwide network of Living Wage Employers, CTE is continuing to practically demonstrate its commitment to promoting fairness, dignity, and respect in the workplace.
Chair of CTE Trustees, Rev Dr Callan Slipper, stated that “CTE wants both to act justly, as the gospel requires, and to give witness to the gospel justice we seek to implement. So, the Trustees wish not only to pay a real living wage but also to give witness to the fact by having Accredited Employer status. After all, justice together with mercy is the backbone of love.”
The Living Wage initiative has gained momentum across the UK, with over 16,000 organisations having already committed to supporting the principle of paying their staff at least the Living Wage. For CTE, accreditation is a natural extension of its long-standing ethos of encouraging a positive work environment and expressing its commitment to social justice.
A number of CTE Member Churches and partner organisations have already achieved Living Wage Employer Accreditation.
