Shine Your Light is an ecumenical initiative spearheaded by the National Day of Prayer and Worship which has recently become and Charity and Network in Association with Churches Together in England.
Shine Your Light’s vision is for the church across the UK nations to stand united to share the Gospel with the whole of society at Christmas. The campaign is set for the weekend of 16 and 17 December, but with an emphasis on the Saturday.
Partners include The Baptist Union, The Methodist Church, Elim, Salvation Army and the Redeemed Christian Church of God and many other CTE Member Churches. Bishop Claion Grandison of the New Testament Church of God said, “The New Testament Church of God is delighted to say we are in for Shine Your Light 2023. There will be an excitement and buzz as Christians take the message of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ out onto the streets.”
Churches are encouraged to consider how they can join together in their villages, towns and cities by holding public worship using carols and sharing the story of the incarnation. This could be a creative way for churches to work alongside each other in the Churches Together network at both local and county or city levels.
Shine Your Light has a digital toolkit which will continue to be updated with new resources. Churches can order, including candles, bespoke booklets and music. The World Prayer Centre and other partners will help with the prayer campaign.
