Linking Lives UK
Linking Lives UK works with churches and Christian organisations across the UK to alleviate loneliness and social isolation particularly among older people. Using an approach which began in Berkshire in 1998, volunteers visit or telephone those in need of regular contact on a regular basis. Partnerships with local charities and statutory bodies provide a means of identifying those most in need of befriending services, and all volunteers are vetted and trained by the local church partner. We also run occasional workshops focusing on specific subjects relating to loneliness and social isolation which are open to members of any local church.
Our role as a charity is to build partnerships with local churches or Christian organisations and provide the necessary training, paperwork, advice and guidance required to establish a project and to run it effectively and safely. Befriending projects have now been set up across the UK in a combination of rural and more urban areas, and works well in all settings and details of our current projects can be found on our website.
