Who we are

We are national evangelism officers of member churches of Churches Together in England, together with representatives from agencies also working for evangelisation in England.

Our remit

We carry forward the agreement of national church leaders, ‘in search of the unity for which Christ prayed and in common evangelism and service of the world’. (The Swanwick Declaration).

In order to define ‘common evangelism’ we focus on the first two ‘Marks of Mission’ which are to:

  1. Proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
  2. Teach, baptise and nurture new believers

We are motivated by the prayer of Jesus that ‘all of them may be one’... ‘so that the world may believe that you have sent me’. John 17: 21

Our members
The membership of the Churches Group for Evangelisation is chiefly made up of the recognised denominational officers for evangelisation. All member churches of Churches Together in England have a seat at the table for their evangelisation officer to attend. Our working membership inludes in alphabetical order:
  • Baptist Union
  • Church of England
  • Church of God of Prophecy
  • Congregational Federation
  • Elim Pentecostal Church
  • Greek Orthodox Church
  • Mar Thoma Church
  • Methodist Church
  • Moravian Church
  • Pioneer
  • Redeemed Christian Church of God
  • Roman Catholic Church
  • Salvation Army
  • United Reformed Church

In addition to the churches we have invited certain associated networks and representative agencies to be part of the Churches Group for Evangelisation. In alphabetical order these are:

  • African and Caribean Evangelical Alliance
  • Bible Society
  • Church Army / Christian Enquiry Agency
  • Church Mission Society
  • CTBI Global Mission Network
  • Evangelical Alliance
  • Healthy Church UK
  • Outlook Trust
  • Roman Catholic SION Community
  • Together in Mission
  • Youth for Christ
We have invited a 'Mission Accompanier' to join us in our meetings to listen, reflect, and keep us on track with our main stated priority. As this is creating confidence for ordinary Christians to share their faith, and the London Institute for Contempory Christianity have a research initiative on this issue, we have asked Neil Hudson from LICC to be our mission accompanier.
Our aim is to help churches share the Good News of Jesus Christ together
