The Forum of Churches Together in England
© Joan Burgess, used with permission
Bringing together over three hundred representatives of the Member Churches, Intermediate Bodies, Co-ordinating Groups and Bodies in Association, CTE's Forum is the largest representative gathering of the Churches in England. Read about its logo.
The Forum is not a deliberative meeting, more a gathering of those engaged in the ecumenical journey. Its purposes are deliberately loosely defined:
To engage in worship and discussion;
To make suggestions to Member Churches about such matters as it believes should be addressed jointly;
To support and encourage Intermediate Bodies (IBs);
To share its reflections on the future activities and programmes of CTE.
It is presided over and guided by a Moderator and Deputy Moderator.
Since the inauguration of CTE in 1991, the Forum was initially held every two years, shifting to every three years in 2003. The Forum is a unique meeting place, providing an opportunity to review the life of the Churches and impetus for further commitment.
